On March 10, a passenger train derailed traveling from Visakhapatnam to Bhawanipatna after departing from Kothavalasa station located in Vizianagaram district, Andhra Pradesh. The engine is separated from the tracks while the train was pulling out of the station at low speed.
According to railway officials, the trail No. 08504 was traveling at a slow speed when the accident occurred. The locomotive driver cut off the power in time to slow down the impact and save all the passengers from casualties. The accident caused two carriages to overturn on one side and the locomotive on the other side.
After receiving the information, the railway department rushed to the incident and started repair work. Fortunately, no one was injured in the accident due to the locomotive driver’s quick response. Now, the railway department subsequently activated an emergency plan and dispatched backup locomotives to tow the rear damaged section of the train away from the accident scene.
At present, the driver is injured but his life is not in danger, the cause of the accident is under investigation and passengers were safely evacuated from the accident place and their journey will be continued the next day.

This year, This is the second major railway accident in the same area. This type of accident raises questions about the Indian railway‘s safety. Railways already implemented lots of security mechanisms to avoid such types of accidents like daily inspection and advanced detection systems.
